At the end of July, 2008, CGAllan officially launched the Zip Code challenge on his website (go back to his Official Homepage and click on the "Radio" icon to read more and begin solving the clues!
May 2008 saw the launch of a teaser poster asking us to "Keep to the Code..." - what could this mean? We'll have to wait until the Summer months to find out...
In May 2007, across at his official site (via the Boggle icon) CGAllan put up a new page with a cryptic wordsearch on it - from the beginning of May through to the end of September 2007 ove on his official blog for 17 weeks he released the "key words" which would help solve the grid's puzzle. Once completed the remaining unused letters, he claimed, would give a user's first and last name and also a secret password to get into a "restricted" part of his official homepage...
Well, by the end, there were 42 words in all ("42?!" I hear you say. "Where have I heard that spaced-out number before?"). Could Moon Crater be a sci-fi story as all hints suggest? Could it be a reference to that all-time intergalactic conundrum from the late genius and maestro of sci-fi, Douglas Adams...
Reproduced on the right-hand side bar here for your ease of reference, is the full list of key words... What has CGAllan said of the secrets these key words will yield?
"When you do work out the wordsearch conundrum, I promise you'll know more about the story of "Moon Crater" than you ever did before..."
Moon Crater Adventures has gained pace over the dying months of 2007 and we're told to expect the beginning of the first story "Simulacrum" soon... How exactly are these adventures "spin-offs" from CGAllan's main novel?
The video of CGAllan's study complete with story secrets on his desk is uploaded to Google Video and you can click right here right now to see the larger-than-life version that original YouTube video exclusive...
"Questions from Moon Crater #1" - just what is this story about? Perhaps it lies somewhere between sci-fi and real life. Let's look at the evidence... From the very beginning of talking about his book CGAllan has stressed that it's set in the real world - and his first Fiction Decisions Poll in 2006 then his 2nd Poll in 2007 and finally his 3rd and final "Moon Crater" Poll in 2008 seem to support this... Additionally, in 2008, the launch a set of stories that are apparently "linked to the novel itself" perhaps give s the biggest clue yet: and these "Moon Crater Adventures" look distinctly science fiction in nature! A final thought is given by the writer himself in a rare spoken interview at his local theatre about his writing in late 2007 (to hear it click here and choose "Enter with sound" then click the third thumbnail from the bottom on the lefthand column) - he summed up his "Moon Crater novel" like this:
It’s sort of an adventure story – but it’s about really finding your roots and appreciating your roots rather than being bored of them.
"Questions from Moon Crater #2" - just what is the real title of C.G.Allan's novel going to be?
The answer? Well, CGAllan has repeatedly on his blog stressed that "Moon Crater" is not his intended title for the book - random research on the Net throws up some domain names such as www.mooncrater.com and www.mooncrater.net which are both "reserved" or "coming soon"...
